Evan Grant writes that last night’s game provides a contrast between where Derek Holland is now, and what the Rangers hope he becomes. Jon Lester consistently threw strikes and got ahead of hitters, while locating his pitches well, whereas Holland struggled to throw first pitch strikes.
Jeff Wilson’s game story has some quotes from Holland indicating that he wasn’t focused and didn’t go after hitters, but Michael Young had praise for Holland and says he wants the Rangers to keep him in the rotation.
Frankie Francisco felt better yesterday, and it sounds like he'll be available today, although he may not be available on back-to-back games for a little while going forward. Matt Harrison, meanwhile, reported no problems after his rehab start yesterday.
